Go Out With Joy And Singing

We are commanded in scripture to "Go out with Joy" as well as to "Sing unto the Lord" I propose we can and should combine the two.

"On The Road Again"

In no way am I advocating Willie Nelson, I just want to be sure to give credit where credit is due. Since I'm leaving tomorrow for the long weekend that I get, I'll be humming this tune a lot as I drive over 12 hours round-trip. Ahhh driving.

On The Road Again
Artist: Willie Nelson
Album: On The Road Again

On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our wayIs on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again

Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
And I can't wait to get on the road again

"What Do You Say?"

What Do You Say
(Michael Dulaney/Neil Thrasher)

Stuck at a red light outside an adult bookstore
His son said Daddy what are all those X's for
As the light turned green he changed the subject fast
Started talking about football as they drove right past

So what do you say in a moment like this
When you can't find the words to tell it like it is
Just bite your tongue and let your heart lead the way
Let's get out of here Oh what do you say

Seventeen years old
She was out with her friends
They started drinking at some party
Till she was three sheets to the wind
Her momma always told her she could call no matter what
She was crying on the front steps
When her mom showed up

So what do you say in a moment like this
When you can't find the words to tell it like it is
Just bite your tongue and let your heart lead the way
Let's get out of here Oh what do you say

Sometimes you gotta listen to the silence
And give yourself a little time to think

Her every breath is weaker than the last
And lately when she sleeps she talks about the past
Her husband knows she's tired of holding on
She looks at him and says I wanna go home

What do you say in a moment like this
When you can't find the words to tell it like it is
Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way
Oh what do you say

Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way
Oh what do you say
Ooo, what do you say

"Be Still My Soul"

Take time today to be still. Take note of the second verse. Let nothing shake your confidence in Christ. He can handle any pain or anger that you feel today. He can handle any words you say. Corrie Ten Boom said it so well: "There is no pit so deep that God is not deeper still." Let God, your Abba Father hold you tonight. Even you boys need a daddy at times. Let God love you. Open your heart to love. Be willing to cry tonight. Cry out to the one who made your tears. For He is the only one who feels your pain as deep as you do.

Be Still My Soul
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side;
bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
leave to thy God to order and provide;
in every change he faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend
through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
to guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
all now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
and all is darkened in the vale of tears,
then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay,
from his own fulness, all he takes away.

Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
when we shall be forever with the Lord,
when disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past,
all safe and blesséd we shall meet at last.

Words: Stille, meine Wille; deine Jesus heift siegen

"The Little Green Frog Song"

I think we all have days when we're the little green frog. Today is one for me. Sing loud and with the actions please!

"The Little Green Frog Song"
Um Ah, went the little green frog one day
Um Ah, went the little green frog
Um Ah, went the little green frog
and his eyes went Um Ah, Um Ah, Um Ah Ah

But we know frogs go “La-di-da-di-da,
La-di-dah-di-dah, La-di-da-di-da,”
We know frogs go “La-di-da-di-da, La-di-dah-di-dah,
La-di-da-di-da,” They don’t go “Um-Um-Ah!"

Honk Honk, went the big red truck one day
Honk Honk went the big red truck
Squish Squash, went the little green frog
and his eyes didn't go Um Ah, anymore
'cause they got licked up by a dog Woof Woof!

"I Will Sing of the Mercies of the Lord"

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV)

"I Will Sing of the Mercies of the Lord"

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever,
I will sing, I will sing.
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever,
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord.

And with my mouth will I make known,
Thy faithfulness, Thy faithfulness.
And with my mouth will I make known,
Thy faithfulness to all generations...

"In My Heart There Rings A Melody"

I've been humming this hymn all day. It struck me that no matter how crummy I might feel sometimes, or how bad the day is going, or for that matter, how great things are, there should always be a melody in my heart. I do have a song from Jesus, and a melody of love.

IN MY HEART THERE RINGS A MELODY
1. I have a song that Jesus gave me, It was sent from heaven above;
There never was a sweeter melody, 'Tis a melody of love.

CHORUS:
In my heart there rings a melody,
There rings a melody with heaven's harmony;
In my heart there rings a melody; There rings a melody of love!

2. I love the Christ who died on Calv'ry, For He washed my sins away;
He put within my heart a melody, And I know it's there to stay.

3. 'Twill be my endless theme in glory, With the angels I will sing;
'Twill be a song with glorious harmony, When the courts of heaven ring.

"On The Coast Of Somewhere Beautiful"

Let me qualify this lyric by saying a few things. To the best of my knowledge I am definitely not running with a guy's heart. This lyric was simply in my head because I would love to see the world. It's a pretty song, and fitting for some stuff right now. I can't go into details, but I have a dream, a hope, and a possibility. And that's that.

"On The Coast Of Somewhere Beautiful"
Kenny Chesney

Knew I could never hold that girl, She was born to see the world
All I got is a picture she mailed me, Barefoot in the snow white sand
A bag of sea shells in her hand, She finally found a paradise it seems

On the coast of somewhere beautiful, Trade winds blowin through her hair
Sunlight dancin on the water, And I wish I was there
Don't know how I'm goin' to find her, All I know so far
She's on the coast of somewhere beautiful, Runnin' with my heart

Sometimes whne the sun goes down, Shadows fall across this little town
And I close my eyes and I drift away, to another place in another time
When the world was ours and she was mine, I dream of holdin her again someday

On the coast of somewhere beautiful, Trade winds blowin through her hair
Sunlight dancin on the water, And I wish I was there
Dont know how I'm gonna find her, All I know so far
Shes on a coast somewhere beautiful, Runnin with my heart

Dont know how I'm goin to find her, All i know so far
Shes on the coast of somewhere beautiful, Runnin with my heart
Ohh Shes runnin with my heart, On the coast of somewhere beautiful

"In Christ Alone"

I'm so blessed today, and everyday. But today I just feel the overwhelming love of God in my heart. He has shown and healed so many things even in the past week, and I'm so thankful for His care and love. My hope is truly found only in Christ.

"In Christ Alone"
Words and Music by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

"A Passion For Thee"

We sang this song again in chapel today. It still gets to me now more than ever. We had an indescribable message in chapel yesterday centered around this verse. I automatically thought of this song. It's been in my thoughts ever since.

"A Passion For Thee"
1. Set my heart, O dear Father, On Thee, and Thee only, Give me a thirst for Thy presence divine. Lord, keep my focus on loving Thee wholly, Purge me from earth; Turn my heart after Thine.

Chorus:
A passion for Thee; O Lord, set a fire in my soul, and a thirst for my God. Hear Thou my prayer, Lord, Thy power impart. Not just to serve, but to love Thee with all of my heart.

2. Father fill with Thy Spirit, and fit me for service, Let love for Christ every motive inspire, Teach me to follow in selfless submission, Be Thou my joy and my soul's one desire.

Chorus

"Untitled Hymn (Come To Jesus)"

This song is perfect to me. It expresses the stages of life so well while reminding us that Christ is there in every part of our lives. He needs to always be our first response. In whatever things I do, I need to do it for Christ. Sometimes we'll crawl, sometimes we'll walk, sometimes we'll fall, but we should always be able to Dance for Jesus. I love the verse that says to "Dance for Jesus". God wants to dance with us. I'm not about to get into a doctrine of dancing, but I do know this, David along with many others danced before the Lord. We should always find the joy to be able to dance for the Lord. Even when we're crying to Him, we can dance.

"Untitled Hymn (Come To Jesus)" By Chris Rice

Weak and wounded sinner, Lost and left to die,
O, raise your head for Love is passing by,
Come to Jesus, Come to Jesus,
Come to Jesus and live,

Now your burden's lifted, And carried far away,
And precious blood has washed away the stain... so
Sing to Jesus , Sing to Jesus ,
Sing to Jesus and live,

And like a newborn baby, Don't be afraid to crawl,
And remember when you walk sometimes we fall... so
Fall on Jesus, Fall on Jesus,
Fall on Jesus and live,

Sometimes the way is lonely, And steep and filled with pain,
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain... then
Cry to Jesus, Cry to Jesus,
Cry to Jesus and live,

O, and when the love splills over, And music fills the night,
And when you can't contain your joy inside... then
Dance for Jesus, Dance for Jesus,
Dance for Jesus and live,

And with your final heartbeat, Kiss the world goodbye,
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side... and
Fly to Jesus, Fly to Jesus,
Fly to Jesus and live,

Fly to Jesus, Fly to Jesus,
Fly to Jesus and live.

Singing For Jesus

Welcome to my space to share the music God has laid on my heart. Basically this is a place for me to share the songs that make up my days and life. It seems that almost everyday I come across a song that speaks right to my soul. Whether in Chapel, an old one running through my head, a lyric found in a book, or simply a song from my childhood, they all have great lessons to teach. I believe God gave us music for a reason, to glorify Him. But also for our enjoyment and learning. I don't want to get involved with music debates and discussions here. I'm neither promoting nor condemning the arists and musicians that sing these songs. I'm simply sharing the words that have blessed my heart. I'll attempt to not break copyright laws, I'll do my best at least. So please enjoy and remember to sing for Jesus! Always find joy in your heart and a song to sing. For He puts the joy in our hearts, and He directs the music of our lives.
